A large medical center was building not one, but two, new hospitals in San Francisco. From the time of the initial plans to the grand openings would take approximately ten years. Even once construction started, it would take a few years before the doors opened to care for the community.
We knew it would be a challenge to translate detailed architectural plans into stories the staff, as well as the community, could understand.
As part of a comprehensive, multi-year change management communication effort, we decided to provide “virtual tours” of the facilities.
Working with a virtual reality company, we designed and produced custom VR cardboard viewers and worked with the architectural firms to create 3D virtual reality tours that anyone with smartphone could access.
The viewers were distributed at employee town hall meetings and at community events.
