THE NEW HEALTH CARE
The health of people is impacted by far more than the latest blockbuster drug or the impressive surgical device. Despite the FDA’s record-breaking rate of approvals for novel drugs in the last two years, overall life expectancy in the U.S. is falling behind other industrialized nations. In the U.S., 40% of deaths are premature and preventable, largely driven by behavioral, economic and environmental factors.
The World Health Organization named the top ten threats to global health in 2019. Among them are air pollution and climate change; preventable diseases caused by lifestyles such as tobacco use, physical inactivity and unhealthy diets; weak primary care and lack of access to preventive medicine.
We take an inclusive view of health to encompass sustainable food production and access to nutritious food; patient advocacy; public health policy; sustainability and environment; and urban planning initiatives focused on healthy cities.
We get excited about those who are shifting the paradigm of health care and medicine, from researchers investigating the zenith of personalized medicine, to innovators developing technologies designed to provide agency to people managing their health.
We also seek to partner with clients who are working on issues that, on the surface, may not seem like they are related to health, but ultimately make an impact on the well-being of people and their ability to thrive.
